DESCRIPTION:Contribution: $120\nCommon Threads – Woven through Community\nHANDS ON WORKSHOP\nHave you ever wanted to make something gorgeous to wear that you absolutely love?\nSomething you can wear in winter to keep you warm or in summer as a throw or a shawl over your shoulders?\nJoin Kim Gordon at this hands-on, heart-felted workshop where you will create your very own gorgeous scarf made from colourful tissue silk fabric and fine merino wool.\nThe layering of fine merino wool and silk has been designed so that you will walk away with a stunning creative piece which will turn heads whenever you wear it!\nThe perfect way to decrease your wardrobe and reduce your footprint is to add a few elegant accessories such as your very own handcrafted scarf. This workshop will impart the knowledge and information for you to be able to create your very own pieces using felt at home.\nThis is an intimate workshop with a maximum of 4 participants and you will receive focused attention to learn the skills required to felt beautiful pieces of clothing and art which you can practice at home.\nKim Gordon, who lives locally in the Perth Hills, first learned to felt about 10 years ago and fell in love with it. Ever since she was a young girl she loved the fibres of different fabrics which she reflects may have come from her mother and grandmother teaching her how to knit and crochet using many different wools and cotton.\nOver the years Kim has developed a love for natural fabrics and has mostly felted as a much-loved interest. Kim has also participated in many workshops with well-known Australian and International felters giving her a variety of skills to share.\n\nKim has been part of the Common Threads Woven Through Community team since its inception in 2018.\nHer motto for felting is ‘From Fibre to Fabulous’… “To start with tiny and delicate fibres and watch them turn into a strong and durable piece of fabric or a delicate art work is amazing” says Kim.\nCommon Threads Woven through Community is a week-long community engagement project proudly brought to the Perth Hills.\nThis exhibition includes topics of integrating sustainability, creativity, and traditional hand-crafted wisdom of the ages.
